Naughty Dog Talks Uncharted For PSP

by Tim Turi on Oct 02, 2009 at 06:51 AM

This month is swollen with big game releases. Yesterday the PSPgo hit store shelves, and on October 13th Uncharted 2 will be spinning in PS3's across North America. With the PSPgo and Naughty Dog's latest effort releasing so close to one another, you can't help but wonder if there's any chance we could be seeing an Uncharted game on Sony's handheld. Apparently, Naughty Dog has been wondering the same thing.

Naughty Dog's Co-President Evan Wells was recently asked if he would like to see Uncharted's Nathan Drake make the leap to portable in the future. "Of course!" he said. "We’d love to see Uncharted grow beyond the PS3. It would be interesting to see what sort of changes to the design one would make for a portable system. But right now Naughty Dog is purely focused on PS3 development so we can’t promise anything from us in the near future."

"Interesting," huh? If by interesting he means awesome. Uncharted for the PSP is just the kind of killer title the device needs. Even if Naughty Dog remains loyal to PS3 development, there are always PSP-focused developers available with good experience handling others' IPs on Sony's handheld. Ready at Dawn did wonders with Sony's God of War: Chains of Olympus, and has already handled a portable version of Naughty Dog's Jak & Daxter series. Someone just needs to convince the company to come out of PSP-developing retirement.
