Kick Some Clay: ClayFighter Remake Set for 2010

by Annette Gonzalez on Sep 16, 2009 at 10:47 AM

Interplay Entertainment Corp. recently announced it will update ClayFighter for the Wii and Nintendo DSi with better graphics and revamped game play. The title will be developed for Interplay by StudioBlack Games’ Eric Hart, original programmer of the SNES version of ClayFighter.

“We are very enthusiastic to resurrect ClayFighter’s crazy characters and unique humor,” said Hervé Caen, Interplay’s CEO. “Eric Hart’s involvement in the previous ClayFighter titles makes StudioBlack the logical choice to give this classic franchise a well-deserved makeover.”

The original ClayFighter was first released on the SNES in 1993 and returned as a straight port to the Wii Virtual Console back in May. Bad Mr. Frosty, Blue Suede Goo and the rest of the gang will return to Nintendo once again in the remolded version of the game next summer. We think the game should include a battle where you take on the cast of Gumby Adventures. Just sayin’.
