Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (October 18, 2017)

by Game Informer Editorial on Oct 19, 2017 at 11:06 AM

Wow do we have some awesome blogs this week! It was super hard to choose what to include, so I implore everyone to peruse the User Blog area for more great content.

Community Blogs For October 12 – October 17:

Top Ten Gaming Beverages
To some this might seem like a ridiculous blog for Boo to write. For me, I saw the BAWLS drink and fondly remembered partaking in the Smash Bros. Melee tournament the company sponsored while I was in high school and still decent at fisticuffs between Nintendo characters. This blog is just loads of fun, and kind of sad, now that I think about how good I once was at Smash.

Top Five Most Beautiful Gaming Theme Songs
It may be shorter than your average Top 10, but I'll be damned if I don't admit that I'm moved by gaming music like crazy. To this day I still hum, whistle, and sing video game songs from time to time while traveling with my wife. These selections are all worthy of your iPhones, or Androids, or whatever smartphone is cool these days. Sorry, I'm actually older than I look.

The Dead Space Standard
Wow, is Dead Space good – and Psykologic is here to tell you why in a short blog that everyone should read. We should all wish for another single-player Dead Space. It's a crime to not have one.

My Ideal N64 Classic
When FusionDriver writes about the Nintendo 64, you know I'm getting hot and bothered. Why? That console is very near and dear to me. It's probably the main reason I pursued a video game career, and still do. Basically, this is a list of must-play games.

The Best Games Period – Honorable Mention – Red Faction
The blog posts for Jack Gardner's podcast don't give much written info, but I just had to feature this for one reason: Red Faction. I mean, duh, that's in the headline – but this game is so very, very good. And it deserves any love it can get. Now leave me alone so I can rocket blast my way through this wall.

Support Your Local Farmer
Haley Shipley is here to tell us about winter, or making it to the season. Shipley is here to tell us about her winter in Stardew Valley, a game that is still on my wish list. The blog turns from the game into one about life, and about coping. It's good, like many Shipley blogs, and I implore you to read it.

Atlus Should Totally Remake Persona 3 (Again)
MightyMagikarp is angering 50 percent of readers, and making the rest happy. I know remakes are a touchy subject in this group. And sure, I like Persona 3 and want everyone to be able to play it, but do we need another remake? Do we need a nice little update for current consoles? And why the hell are we not talking about Tensei or other more hardcore Megaten games that aren't so easy in the gameplay and world-building departments? Okay, I got a little intense there. I still love Persona!

Writing Challenge:

What gaming moment has made you the happiest? I was just talking to a buddy about how much I loved playing online Smash Bros. with him in Duluth, Minn., and it made me think about gaming moments that made me happy. That same year we also went through Sega Soccer Slam, FIFA 2002, and so much more. I want to know your favorites, whether recent or old!

I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
