The Top 10 Dragons And/Or Dinosaurs Of PAX West 2017

by Brian Shea on Sep 01, 2017 at 07:06 PM

You know what people love? Dinosaurs and dragons! At least that's what the publishers at PAX West 2017 seem to think. A quick stroll of the showfloor tells you that publishers are banking on players flocking to their dragon- and/or dino-infested digital playgrounds. Don't believe us? See for yourself as we take you on a magical tour of the fantastical and prehistoric beasts that fill the PAX West 2017 showfloor.

Check out our rankings, and sound off in the comments about your top 10 dragons and/or dinosaurs PAX West 2017.

10. Super Mario Odyssey

Nintendo doesn't actually have a dinosaur on the showfloor (these are posters being handed out at Nintendo's booth), but people love Mario, and people love tyrannosauruses, so here it is, your number 10.

9. Dauntless

Dauntless looks super promising, but this list isn't about promise; it's about dragons and/or dinos, baby. Again, this is just a picture of a dinosaur/dragon-like creature, but it looks pretty cool, so it lands on our top 10 dinosaurs and dragons of PAX West 2017.

8. Trion Worlds

Here we go: physical dinosaurs and dragons on the showfloor. This dragon is pretty cool, and the pixel aesthetic is sweet, but wait 'til you see the next seven dragons and/or dinosaurs at PAX West 2017.

7. Skyrim

Skyrim is a great game, but this figure isn't quite up to scale with the rest of the dragons and/or dinosaurs of PAX West 2017. Still, skeleton dragons are pretty cool and inarguably worthy of our top 10.

6. ARK: Survival Evolved (Pt. 1)

Look at this leap ahead. What a leap ahead. This dino looks so happy to have a saddle. That's all I have to say.

5. Total War: Warhammer II

Look how awesome this dragon and/or dinosaur head looks coming out of this building. Sega really killed it. However, it's only the dragon and/or dinosaur's head, and half a dragon and/or dinosaur is not a dragon and/or dinosaur at all. Good try, Sega.

4. Clash of Kings

This dragon is pretty sweet. No getting around that. However, since it's not actually on the showfloor (it's just outside the showfloor), it loses a few points.

3. Middle-earth: Shadow of War

We're all eagerly anticipating Middle-earth: Shadow of War next month, but they aren't technically dragons; they're drakes. Still, this statue is awesome, and you can go sit on top of it if you want to pretend you liked dragons before Game of Thrones.

2. ARK: Survival Evolved (Pt. 2)

Congratulations to ARK for being the only game with two entries on this list! What other longtime Early Access game can make that claim?

1. Monster Hunter World

It's impossible to beat Monster Hunter World's devotion to promoting awesome dragons and/or dinosaurs at PAX West 2017. You did it, Capcom! Just count your blessings that Horizon: Zero Dawn came out earlier this year.
