Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (January 26, 2017)

by Game Informer Editorial on Jan 26, 2017 at 05:10 AM

This week we hear about the pitfalls of PC gaming, honor the Resident Evil series, and lovingly remember the Wii U. Read on!

Community Blogs For January 19 – January 25:

The Problem with PC Gaming from a PC Gamer
PC gaming is what Heropon is into, but our blogger isn't here to shun your Xbox One. Instead, this dedicated mouse-and-keyboard gamer is here to write about the issues you should be aware of when it comes to PC gaming. It's a nice introduction for those who have never explored what PC gaming has to offer.

In Honor to Resident Evil
GerardoExber's blog is certainly timely with the latest Resident Evil hitting stores this week. What really makes this post enjoyable is its liberal use of images – and it's also a poem. I am awaiting the day our blogger releases a book collecting his many poetic musings on gaming.

Tackling the Backlog – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Our blogger General Mills44 writes that Twilight Princess is good, but it isn't in the upper echelon of Zelda games. I disagree, loving everything from the tone to Midna and the wolf transformation, but he backs up all his points.

Everything Wrong with Gears of War 4
I'm a huge fan of the Gears series, but unlike StarterPack, I just wasn't excited for yet another sequel. Or a new cast. But our blogger rates it as Game of the Year fodder – despite some issues. Sure, Gears isn't known for riveting narratives, but StarterPack can't get over how this one ends. I agree, and probably won't pick up a Gears game ever again.

Wii U, I Love You
I'm with Haley Shipley: I love the Wii U. She writes that "It's a really fun system that deserves a bit more love," and I agree. I still play it from time to time, and every time I do I enjoy it for hours. Nintendo really needs to do something about not being able to host third-party games that Sony and Microsoft get, but that's another blog for another time.

My First Flash Sale
Qrow Rose writes a super fun blog on how to spend $10 in your first flash sale. It's crazy what quality you can get for the price, and I'm sad to have missed out on the last sale (I was finally going to play some games on my bucket list). Now just don't get addicted to these sales, Qrow; your wallet won't be happy.

Community Reviews:

Persona 4 Golden Review – Improving Upon Perfection
Insane_Buffoon is here to praise Persona 4. While it is hard to justify buying a Vita since Sony isn't supporting it anymore, this perfect JRPG nearly makes it worth picking one up for some gaming on the go.

Writing Challenge:

The latest Resident Evil hit stores this week, and it's quite different from past games. But it works. How would you reimagine other series? I'm still hoping for Pro Evolution Soccer to turn itself into an open-world game where you level up your player and can play online at different soccer parks or areas. Hire me, Konami!

I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
