Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (January 19, 2017)

by Game Informer Editorial on Jan 19, 2017 at 05:03 AM

The Nintendo Switch and Valkyria Chronicles were the hot topics this week, which is A-okay in my book.

Community Blogs For January 12 – January 18:

Tackling the Backlog: Valkyria Chronicles
General Mills44 quickly establishes street cred by admitting to beating this beloved series three times (and hoisting it high with praise alongside Metroid Prime and Twilight Princess). If you have not played this series, this blog is the one to read to figure out if you should. From the game's world, to its characters and gameplay, everything is well crafted – even if Mills thinks the story can be messy.

One Man's Thoughts: Valkyria Chronicles Remastered
Blogger Attackcobra doesn't "care much for the characters and plot" of this gem, but the combat more than makes up for it. In this case, our writer likes a lot of things about this strategy game, but dislikes just as much. Seriously, though – who would trust someone late to a battle because they were chasing a bug?

Lessons To Learn From Gravity Rush's Open World
PudyMaster starts by writing about how aggravating Gravity Rush was. However, a second attempt at playing it made Pudy realize something: Gravity Rush knows how to do open worlds. The writer makes a lot of great points, praising the game for its variety and great side missions. I can't wait for the sequel to come out!

Here's What Would Make Me Buy A Nintendo Switch
The Switch is all the rage in the gaming community right now, but Marco Polo has a lot of questions. His breakdown of what's been released and what could be is interesting and detailed. I enjoy my Wii U a lot and still play it every now and then, so I'm excited for the Switch, if only for first-party games.

Zelda Characters I Would Like to See Return in the Series
The Legend of Zelda series is filled with great characters. Refle misses some of them. This list is about who should make a return. Though I am not so sure about "Guy with hand sticking out of toilet." Actually, I am kind of curious as to what transpired to put him in that predicament.

Seven Developers to Watch in 2017
TheDarkestLink fuels speculation with his latest blog. Studios like Retro and Rocksteady are definitely fan favorites, and I'm very curious as to what's going on behind closed doors. As for Monolith Soft, I want a remake of Xenogears. This time, however, let's finish the final half as intended, eh?

Community Reviews:

Day of the Tentacle: Remastered (Review)
Zack Burrows has a lot of great things to write about this classic (which I have yet to play). If you're wondering what the heck this game is all about, this is the review for you. Wacky dialogue is always welcome 'round these parts.

CWC: The Awful Choices I Made in Games
When it comes to making choices, StarterPack is delighted to choose his own path. But because of the power our blogger has wielded, some tough choices have been made. Sometimes by accident, but it doesn't make them any easier to digest.

Writing Challenge:

We'll take this week off to recharge a bit. The lower number of blogs this week has me thinking you guys need some time to game and reset those writing muscles!

I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
