Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (June 23, 2016)

by Game Informer Editorial on Jun 23, 2016 at 11:31 AM

A mixture of E3, social commentary, and more E3 make up the bulk of this week's blogs. Enjoy!

Community Blogs For June 16 – June 22:

My E3 2016: Kona, Skylar, Solus & More
Kyle Wadsworth attended the mecca of gaming that is E3 (or germ factory, if you prefer), and gives readers a huge rundown of the sights, sounds, and thoughts surrounding the yearly event.

Let's talk about Berserk!
Katzenbalger adores Berserk and the fact that it's getting a game. It makes sense. While the Dreamcast game was a solid telling of part of the manga's story, there is a lot of bloody potential for a more sprawling game. This was easily one of the highlights of the show for me and our blogger. This game may someday be added to this list.

Gaming's Top Ten Hottest Dads
While we don't want to sexualize men and women, we did find Thomas Loughney's blog to be quite the funny celebration of Father's Day. Let's just say that while Kratos is quite the sculpted man, he really isn't a great – or even fair – parent. Here's hoping his son's life is much better in the upcoming Norse romp.

Gun Violence and Games
Thomas Loughney takes a step back from hot dads to write about a problem in America: gun violence. Whatever your opinion on guns, it's interesting to think about where video games stand in the debate and our culture.

The Highs & Lows of E3 2016
Jon_G gives us his picks of the best and worst of E3. It's just about what you'd expect: Zelda was looking awesome, Sony had some big surprises, and FIFA was EA's real only game shown with any substance.

My Top Ten Most Anticipated Games at E3
Attackcobra keeps his E3 blog simple with a listicle. All of the games that make it in the top 10 are on my radar – which doesn't bode well for my wallet. This is a good way to get a breakdown of a lot of games if you haven't already read through the countless articles online, so dig in!

Community Writing Challenge:

We're going to take a week off to recharge, but I am also going to ask you to flood the comments with your own writing challenge ideas for the following weeks of summer! So please comment with topics you want to write about!

Writing Challenge Responses:

Community Writing Challenge: E3 – A Stage Full of Surprises
GerardoExber puts E3 live streams on his calendar and clears the rest of his day. He's a huge fan of the trade show, swallowing up the excitement like Kirby. I mean, he wrote a poem about the event, so you know he's into it.

Community Playdate:

None this week! I'll be camping and playing a real-life version of Don't Starve. Actually, I hope not. That would be terrifying.

I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
