Are Vehicles Coming To Pokémon Sun & Moon? And Other Teases From The Announcement

Today’s Nintendo Direct let everyone know that Pokémon Sun and Moon will be coming this holiday season, but a smattering of quick screens and art may have let us know a few additional possibilities about the upcoming titles, some of which are fun to speculate over. Let’s take a look at some of the more interesting shots from today’s Nintendo Direct and try to piece the puzzle together.

Oh look, it’s our friend Pikachu! Players will be able to import Pokémon from the classic games into Sun and Moon via the Pokémon Bank, but perhaps we’ll be able to recruit him directly as well in Sun and Moon.

What in the world is this? It looks like a new design for the Pokémon Center – perhaps a bit more compact and efficient than previous iterations.

And here we can see what looks like the interior of the new Pokémon Center…

This is perhaps the most interesting bit of all the new snags in the direct. We see a smattering of various vehicles, one of which actually is a Blastoise-powered fire truck of sorts. Another appears to be a Poké-Ambulance, but the real takeaway here is that we’ve got three different vehicles, one that actually utilizes Pokémon to fulfill a classic helpful role.

Will vehicles play a major role in Sun and Moon? Will players be able to drive around, tossing away the bikes of the past in favor of new Pokémon rides? This is super exciting – who hasn’t always wanted to put out a fire with a souped-up Squirtle?

These images may actually be just as exciting as the prospect of vehicles. The beach mansion may look like a luxury Pokémon center or something at first, but with the other obvious design also featured in the video, this looks like a tournament venue in the making. It also could be a hint at a tropical setting for the game.

With various Pokémon featured on the walls and a spiffy Horsea shooting water outside, these lavish lodgings also show some potential Pokémon trainers outside with luggage, implying they’ve come some distance to participate in a Pokémon event. I think we’re looking at the place where the game’s big tournament will go down – or maybe some kind of massive training hub players will be able to develop over the course of the game!
