Replay – Sega 32X Spectacular Starring Knuckles' Chaotix (Tim Turi Farewell Episode)

by Brian Shea on Feb 19, 2016 at 02:00 PM

After the Sega CD, the 32X was Sega's next Genesis hardware add-on. Unfortunately for Sega, the cartridge-based expansion never took off and was discontinued less than two years after it was released. The 32X works by inserting the hardware into the cartridge slot of the Genesis. The option to include the Sega CD for more intensive experiences exists, but it's not required for the cartridge-only games. In this episode of Replay, we focus on the cartridge-only offerings of the Sega 32X.

Join Andrew Reiner, Tim Turi, Jeff Cork, and myself as we play through some of the 32X library. We start with as close to a signature title as the system got with Knuckles' Chaotix before moving onto other games in the catalog like the intense hummingbird action of Kolibri, Star Wars Arcade's unforgettable crawl, and more.

We end the show on a somber note, as this is Tim Turi's final episode of Replay as a member of the Game Informer staff (read his goodbye post here). We see him off in the only way we know how. Thanks for six years of awesome episodes, Tim!
