Update 2: Based on your requests, we've built a new character pool with additional game heroes (complete with bios). The "GI Character Pool 2" file is available for download now.

Included in this second wave of game heroes, you'll find:

  • Commander Shepard (MaleShep and FemShep)
  • Master Chief
  • John Marston
  • Ezio Auditore
  • Sarah Kerrigan
  • Faith Connors

You can grab the new character pool file (and the other two) right here. Just follow the directions below to add them to your game.

Update 1: Because you asked it for it, we've created a second character pool. This time out, we're the stars of the show.

You can download a character pool with 18 members of the Game Informer editorial staff. Import us to your game using the instructions below. You can download both files here.

Original Story:

One of the most convenient innovations that Firaxis implemented in XCOM 2 is the character pool. Using this feature, you can create characters, bundle them into themed sets, and share them with friends.

Using the character pool, the game will randomly insert your characters as recruited or rescued soldiers, engineers and scientists, or VIPs to assassinate or extract.

To get you started, we created 10 iconic game characters you can import. Each of them has their own biography, and you can tell the game how you want them to show up while you’re playing. Download the file here.

Simply copy this file to your \Documents\Games\XCOM2\XComGame\CharacterPool\Importable folder. You may need to manually create the folder if it doesn’t exist.

Once you’ve done that, load up your game. Go to the Character Pool selection in the menu. Click “Import Character,” and then select the “GI Game Characters” pool. This will import the following into your pool:

  • Link
  • Marcus Fenix
  • Mario
  • Samus Aran
  • Chun-Li
  • Lara Croft
  • Nathan Drake
  • Solid Snake
  • Gordon Freeman
  • Jade from Beyond Good & Evil

We’re glad to keep going with this, so put your requests in the comment section and we’ll start working on another pool for your to import. For more on XCOM 2, check out our review.
