Quiplash's Arnie Niekamp Shares His Top Games of 2015

by Game Informer Editorial on Jan 05, 2016 at 08:00 AM

On the lead up to Game Informer's Game of the Year awards of 2015, we've invited a number of the video game industry's influential figures to share their favorite games of the year.

Arnie Niekamp is a director at Jackbox Games, the developer responsible for the immensely enjoyable Jackbox Party Packs. Niekamp is a writer on both Quiplash and Drawful, games included in those packs. To learn more about him and the process of creating the Jackbox Party Packs, check out our interview on The Game Informer Show.

Here's Niekamp with his picks for the year in no particular order:

#iDARB
I obviously have a huge bias towards games that can not just be watched over Twitch, but actively interacted with. I love how iDARB fully embraces the chaos and keeps making more.

Her Story
A genuinely compelling story, artfully done. How rare is that in games? Plus, I'm just a sucker for the VHS aesthetic.

Rocket League
I generally don't like sports games, and I HATE everything involved with RC cars, but somehow you put them together and I'm 100% in. Who would have guessed?

Grim Fandango Remastered
Maybe it's unfair to include this remastered game, but considering it's maybe the greatest adventure game (scratch that, game period) of all time, I think it works.
