Lego Marvel Super Heroes' Arthur Parsons Shares His Top 10 Games Of The Year

by Game Informer Editorial on Jan 05, 2016 at 11:00 AM

On the lead up to Game Informer's Game of the Year awards of 2015, we've invited a number of the video game industry's influential figures to share their favorite games of the year.

Arthur Parsons has worked on a number of LEGO games, including LEGO Batman and LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga, before becoming the Game Director of the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

These are his picks for 2015 in no particular order:

Dying Light
I loved the fact that there was a new take on the zombie game genre. An experience that felt more open, and was less reliant on actually battling zombies, and more reliant on staying alive. Added to that the team created a beautiful looking open world.

Ether One
Seeing the White Paper Games team come to PS4 was incredibly exciting, this is a company that was formed by University friends who had a vision, so to see it now come to consoles was truly exciting. I have a lot of respect for them, and the game is a real engrossing experience.

Witcher 3
Great combat, and a truly compelling story, an RPG that is effectively good night to having a life. A huge game that keeps you going back for more. Fantastic.

Splatoon
had a lot of fun with Splatoon, mainly it was fun to play something bright and colourful and overtly silly.

Rare Replay
Definitely one of my favourite games (I’m guessing a compilation counts!) of the year, predominantly for one of my favourite games of all time, Conker's bad fur day. The fact that you then also get Battletoads, Blastcorps and Banjo amongst others is just genius! A definite must own!

Blood Bowl 2
There is not rhyme of reason for including Blood Bowl 2, other than the fact it is Blood Bowl. The fact that it is actually good to boot meant it was an insta-purchase for me. It has humour and depth and is a terrific interpretation of the board game classic.

LEGO Dimensions
A LEGO game that I didn’t work on, and therefore one that I can enjoy as a player. The mash up of IP’s and the fact that the toys in this toys t olife game are actually toys makes sure it earns it’s place, and not just because I share office space with the team J

Batman Arkham Knight
I knew that the concluding game in Rocksteady’s trilogy would not disappoint, the game is a technical masterpiece aside from being a wonderful third trip to the universe they created. An absolute pleasure to play start to finish.

Yoshi's Woolly World
Beautiful in every way, wonderfully creative, and effectively what makes Nintendo great. Last year I loved Captain Toad, this year I love Woolly world, absolutely adorable.

Rocket League
Well you had me at Mario Kart meets Fifa.. though that simplistic equation probably doesn’t actually do the game as much justice … simply put a game that is easy to play, impossible to master, and oodles of fun.

Oh and one for 2016: LEGO Marvel Avengers… releasing on the 26th January… apparently it promises to be the best LEGO titles yet ;0
