As long as there is a new Call of Duty, it seems a live action commercial will release alongside it. With today's Black Ops III commercial releasing we decided to look back on the trend.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

This is the one that started it the trend. It has a few celebrity cameos, but they mostly take a backseat to real people (i.e. costumed actors) playing Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

I will forever think of this ad and say, "Oh yeah, the one with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum... I mean Sam Worthington."

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

The apex, arguably, of the celebrity cameo. This ad was directed by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) and features, most notably, guest appearances by Robert Downey Jr. and that Russian YouTube explosion guy.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Megan Fox is the only celebrity that appears in this commercial, and I think she gets killed in it. I'm not certain.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

You never get a good look at him, but Taylor Kitsch features prominently in this ad. He tells the viewer we don't kiss goats, but who elected Kitsch to speak for all Call of Duty players? I certainly didn't.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

The latest live action trailer for Call of Duty promoting Black Ops III, which releases on Friday. The celebrity cameo number is boosted form the last two years' single celebrity cameos to feature three with Michael B. Jordan, Marshawn Lynch, and Cara Delevingne.

Let's start taking bets on who will appear in next year's ad. I've got money down on Hatsune Miku and Ed Asner.
