Test Chamber – Squashing Big Alien Bugs In Galak-Z

by Jeff Marchiafava on Aug 03, 2015 at 12:54 PM

17-Bit's nostalgic homage to '80s anime and Saturday morning cartoons is finally here. Top-down shooter/roguelike hybrid Galak-Z: The Dimensional eschews the simplistic controls of twin-stick shooters for a more deliberate and tactical experience filled with tense dogfighting. Join the G.I. crew as we take on one of Galak-Z's procedurally generated levels and attempt to rid space of a nasty bug infestation.

Ben Reeves is on the sticks this time around, with Matt Miller and I serving as his wingmen and offering up plenty of questions and observations along the way. This episode of Test Chamber should give you a good idea of the early levels, enemies, and objectives of Galak-Z, along with some ship upgrades that you may unlock. Watch the video below to see if Reeves can track down and exterminate a quartet of super-sized space bugs, or if he'll be pounded into cosmic dust.

Expect our Galak-Z review later in the week. For more on the game, check out the reveal trailer for Galak-Z's awesome mech mode, and our video interview with 17-Bit CEO Jake Kazdal on the roots and inspiration for the game.
