Wayne Tower Springs A Leak In Weird Arkham Knight Glitch

by Jeff Cork on Jul 03, 2015 at 02:01 PM

Gotham City is a sucky place to live. Ignore for a moment that it’s a haven for street-level crime. Try to see past the fact that dozens of evil masterminds are obsessed with destroying it. Even if the city underwent an urban renewal the likes of which had never been seen before, you can’t fix one thing: Gotham’s unbelievably terrible weather. I ran into a glitch in Batman: Arkham Knight several days ago, and it proves that there’s no respite from even rain.

Warning: This video shows the inside of Wayne Tower. It's not much of a spoiler (at all), but if you want to play the game 100-percent untarnished you may want to move along.

If you’re a noir-style vigilante who thrives on dramatic lightning flashes, you can’t do much better than Gotham City. Once the Dark Knight’s done making a grand entrance or has milked a brooding perch pose for all that it’s worth, it’s time to go inside for a breather. And as I learned, he can take advantage of a surprise shower, too.

Bruce Wayne has an unending amount of cash; perhaps it’s time he drove the Batmobile over to a home-improvement store and picked up a few tarps. Heck he can just run the errand using its remote-control capabilities if he doesn't feel like going out again.

The glitch is certainly amusing, but I found it interesting in its own bizarre way, too. I probably wouldn’t have even bothered saving the footage if it hadn’t been so impressively detailed. It’s neat that the rain-pooling effect appears on the floor and desk – places where Rocksteady clearly hadn’t intended to get wet – as well as on Lucius Fox’s suit. It’s just a by-product of how these effects are rendered in the game, but it’s still pretty neat to look at. Probably because I don’t have to mop it up later.
