Test Chamber – Exploring The Metroid Inspired World Of Axiom Verge

by Ben Reeves on Mar 31, 2015 at 09:25 AM

This is the game that Metroid fans have been waiting for. Axiom Verge feels like a long-lost Metroid spinoff that was developed in the '80s and then fell through a time warp before landing in 2015. If you don't believe us, then watch us play through the game's opening sequence.

Join Tim Turi and Ben Reeves as they test out a game that feels a lot like nostalgia. Developer Tom Happ spent four years working on this love letter to his favorite NES games, and the finished product display’s Happ’s eye for detail. We give you a quick tour of the game's weapons and haunting atmosphere. We stay clear of spoilers, but at the 8:20 min mark we jump towards the end of the game to show off some powerful weapons and cool enemies, which some people might not want to see.

Axiom Verge hits PlayStation 4 today. For more on the game, you can read our review, and check out this feature on the game's development.
