Destiny - Xur's Gear And Upgrades For The Weekend Of February 13

by Mike Futter on Feb 12, 2015 at 11:39 PM

Happy Xursday, Guardians. The Agent of the Nine is back in the Tower, and it seems he needs a drink. You can find him in the bar (through the hanger, down the stairs, and way in the back).

This week's offerings will make you smile if you happened to miss Icebreaker (one of the game's best weapons) when he had it a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, Xur does not have the coveted heavy ammo synth packs, nor does he have engrams. Thankfully, Bungie said in its weekly Destiny update that the fix for the dreaded heavy ammo bug (affecting every single player) is still on track for this month.

Here's the full rundown of items for purchase and upgrade:

Icebreaker (exotic sniper rifle) - 17 strange coins

  • Solar
  • Attack: 302/331
  • No Backpack (Icebreaker regenerates ammo, but you can't hold extra for it)
  • Mulligan (Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine)
  • Ice Breaker (Enemies spontaneously combust, dealing damage to others around them)
Helm of Inmost Light (Titan helmet) - 13 strange coins
  • Defense: 407/447
  • Light: 30/36
  • Rain Blows (Increased melee speed)
  • Invigoration (Reduces melee cooldown when you pick up orbs)
  • Recklessness (Provides Death from Above and Headstrong for Fist of Havoc)

Crest of Alpha Lupi (Hunter chest) - 13 strange coins

  • Defense: 444/488
  • Light: 30/36
  • Special Weapon Ammo (Increases the amount of special weapon ammo you can carry)
  • Hand Cannon Ammo (Increases the amount of special weapon ammo you can carry)
  • Keeper of the Pack (Revive teammates faster, they revive you faster, super spawns additional orbs)

Light Beyond Nemesis (Warlock helmet) - 13 strange coins

  • Defense: 407/447
  • Light: 30/36
  • Snap Discharge (Increased melee speed)
  • Infusion (Replenish health when you pick up an orb)
  • Keeper of the Pack (Revive teammates faster, they revive you faster, super spawns additional orbs)

As usual, he also has exotic shards (seven strange coins), the Urn of Sacrifice (one strange coin), Sparrow upgrades (twenty-three strange coins), and telemetry for scout rifles, hand cannons, and fusion rifles (one strange coin). There is no heavy ammo synthesis this week.

This week’s upgrade list includes the following:

  • Knucklehead Radar (Hunter helmet)
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi (Hunter chest)
  • Helm of Inmost Light (Titan helmet)
  • Crest of Alpha Lupi (Titan chest)
  • No Backup Plans (Titan arms)
  • Apotheosis Veil (Warlock helmet)
  • Sunbreakers (Warlock arms)
  • The Last Word (hand cannon)
  • Icebreaker (sniper rifle)
  • Patience and Time (sniper rifle)
  • Super Good Advice (machine gun)
  • Gjallarhorn (rocket launcher)
  • Truth (rocket launcher)

As an added bonus this week, I have something special. Last week, a commenter suggested that I was "roleplaying" in this post. For clarity, here's what it looks like when I roleplay Destiny:

Me: I approach Xur.

DM: Xur offers to sell you his wares.

Me: "Hello, Xur. What do you have this weekend?"

DM (as Xur): "Mostly junk. The Nine are facing a Cabal blockade. Will you assist us in clearing it?"

DM: Do you want to take the quest from Xur?

Me: What do I get as a reward?

DM: The ability to not buy crap.

Me: SOLD!
