Six Games To Play With Mom

by Ben Reeves on May 11, 2014 at 09:29 AM

It's Mother's Day, that means it's time to spend time with your momma. However, it's also the weekend and you'd probably also like to spend some time with your favorite hobby, why not do both? Here's a short list of a few games you and your mom might enjoy together.

We don't know if your mom is a gamer or not, but if you want to spend some time playing games with your mom today, here are a few suggestions that are sure to please just about anyone. We hope your mother's day looks like this.

Mario Kart
Mario Kart will give your mom a chance to vent all that road rage she's built up after driving you and your friends to soccer practice for so many years. Nintendo's kart racer is easy to pick up and play, and remains competitive for newcomers. We recommend the GameCube's Double Dash for it's cooperative modes, but just about any version of Nintendo's racer will get the job done.

Portal
If your mom isn't experienced with first person shooters, she might need some time to get used to the twin stick controls, but Valve clever puzzles and witty dialog are sure to put a smile on her face. If you mom loves puzzles then Portal will likely be up her alley. Portal 2 even has a co-op mode that should make you both feel like useful teammates.

Lego Marvel
TT Game's Lego titles have always been highly approachable for gamers of every skill level, and last year's Marvel based game was one of the best yet. Lego Marvel features a massive list of heroes a wealth of side mission to complete when you're not saving the world. Your mom will probably love these heroes slapstick antics almost as mush as she loves smashing every object in the environment.

Nintendo Land
Nintendo Land didn't strike the same cultural fever as the Wii's pack-in title Wii Sports, but in some ways its a better minigame collection. If you can gather four or five people together you should have a blast with Mario Chase, which lets the team chase down one of your members, or Luigi's Ghost Mansion, which will have you working together to hunt down and capture a ghost.

The Beatles: Rock Band
Chances are that your mom likes The Beatles; not because their music is for an older generation, but because it's timeless. Rock Band might not be as popular as it once was, but that doesn't mean it's gameplay isn't equally as timeless. Help your mom experience the true thrills of interacting with music on a new level. She'll probably rock the drums.

LittleBigPlanet 2
Sackboy is so adorable that your mom will want to pinch his cheeks, but the game's co-op platforming is also a lot of fun. However, the main draw for LittleBigPlanet has always been it's creation system. Nothing brings people closer together than working together on a mutual project. What can you and your mom create together?

That's our list of games to play with your mom, but if your mom is rad enough to spend some time playing games with you on her day then she deserves something special from you; make sure you give her a hug for us.
