This Week In Mobile 11/9/12

by Mike Mahardy on Nov 09, 2012 at 07:30 AM

Android and iOS owners have their games cut out for them this week, from everything to a Tolkien-inspired mobile MMO to a couple of stick games that lean towards the violent side of things. Check out this week’s releases here.

The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth
Developer: Kabam
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: Free-To-Play

Fighting against a goblin army is no small task, so this game tasks you with creating your own faction and building a city to fight them. You’ll choose between and Elf or Dwarf faction and ally with the race you don’t choose. Heroes like Legolas and Thorin the Dawrf will come to your aid in the fight, making this an exciting MMO for being a mobile game.

Angry Birds Star Wars
Developer: Rovio
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: Free

What's Angry Birds? Well basically....Just kidding, if you haven't been living under a rock for the last few years, you already know. What's Star Wars though? Well....You probably know that, too. These two just got combined in Angry Birds Star Wars. Everyone wants to see pigs wearing Darth Vader masks and birds sporting lightsabers, and everyone's wishes just got granted. Enjoy.

Anger of Stick 2
Developer: Junghyun Park
Platforms: iOS, Android
Price: Free

Anger of Stick 2 has been popular on iOS for some time, so it’s no surprise it’s been ported to Android. You control a stick figure as it beats up other stick figures in a side-scrolling platformer. Eventually, you’ll earn new guns that can be upgraded. If all of this doesn’t grab you, there are survival and Doodle Runner modes too.

Rocket Fly
Developer: Smarcle, Inc.
Platforms: iOS
Price: $0.99

Outer space is the ultimate goal of Rocket Fly, but customizing your own rocket to get there is the fun part. You’ll collect coins, power-ups, and smash into other rockets in your path, all the while upgrading your rocket to make the game easier and more fun. The game’s graphics charming, too, as far as mobile games go.

Lost Wheel
Developer: Ivan Rodic
Platforms: iOS
Price: $0.99

Halloween is over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the creepy aesthetic of the holiday in this addictive game. You’ll be avoiding ghosts and jack-o-lanterns, among other obstacles, on your way through each level. Collecting coins and earning achievements elongate the experience, making the dollar price tag well worth the purchase.
