Rocket League Is Going Free To Play

by Daniel Tack on Jul 21, 2020 at 12:54 PM

Ready for some free soccar? Rocket League is going free to play later this summer! In addition to the monetization change, the team over at Psyonix is improving features like tournaments and challenges and adding cross-platform progression.

Rocket League is releasing on the Epic Games Store at the same time the model changes to free to play. When that happens, Steam users can still play the game with full update support - but new players will not be able to download the title on Steam, so newcomers will have to pick up the title on the Epic Games Store.

Did you play Rocket League before free to play? You will be rewarded legacy status, which includes all Rocket League-branded DLC before free to play, a special title, item upgrades to "legacy" quality, a golden cosmos boost, special wheels and a player banner. Whew!
