Nintendo delivered its financial results for the six-month period ending on September 30, 2018, which showed that the Switch console has already exceeded then-president Tatsumi Kimishima's goal of 20 million units sold with time to spare. Nintendo reports that 22.86 million units of the Switch have been sold worldwide.

In software news, the two standout Switch titles during the period were Mario Tennis Aces (2.16 million units sold) and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (1.67 million units), contributing to total software sales for the system of 42.13 million during that time.

Finally, the NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition have sold a combined 3.69 million units.
