While there have been a number of Katamari Damacy games over the years, the frequency tends to be fairly lopsided, with the last non-mobile game releasing on Vita nearly eight years ago. On the gaming forum ResetEra, a poster discovered that Bandai Namco had recently trademarked the name "Katamari Damacy Reroll" for Europe. This was then followed up by a Japanese trademark for "Katamari Damacy Encore," hinting at a Greatest Hits or collection game.

While creator Keita Takahashi has been working on Wattam for Annapurna Interactive, he remarked earlier this year that he has been taking a look at his old games for "secret reasons."

An error occurred while retrieving the Tweet. It might have been deleted.

Additionally, some sources we have talked to have mentioned to Game Informer that Bandai Namco is making a big push with external partners for the franchise in the near future, possibly to coincide with a new game. With Tokyo Games Show, ahem, rolling in fairly soon, that seems like it could be a reasonable place to announce something.

Hopefully all our dreams are not crushed.
