On social media tonight, Nintendo posted an update about the September 6 Nintendo Direct. The company has decided to delay the Direct in light of the earthquake in Hokkaido that has caused significant landslides and at least two known fatalities. The chaos caused by the earlier typhoon and yesterday's earthquake is being widely covered in Japanese media.

The tweet says a future time and date will be announced soon, but does not give a specific timetable. It could be this week or could be a month from now, only Nintendo really knows. The Direct was announced yesterday morning, which is fairly short notice, but relatively common for Nintendo's events.

We'll be sure to update when Nintendo announces a new date.
