Burt Reynolds, the star of Smokey and the Bandit and a lifetime of other roles, passed away today at age 82.

While Reynolds was certainly best known for his roles in late-70s and early-80s movies, he also made an imprint on some pretty notable games. Reynolds voiced the billionaire tycoon Avery Carrington in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The character appeared in Liberty City Stories, which takes place 12 years later, voiced by a different actor.

More recently, Reynolds appeared as himself in Volition's Saints Row: The Third, playing the Mayor of Steelport. Reynolds sends the player on a mission to rid Steelport of zombies. By completing the mission and dumping the truck of chemicals as the mayor asks, Reynolds joins the Saints and will come to the player's aid when called.

We reached out to Deep Silver and Volition about whether the upcoming port of Saints Row: The Third on the Switch will feature any memorial messages to Reynolds, but did not hear back by the time of writing.
