It's no secret that Sonic Mania was what a lot of Sonic fans were asking for after years of the series diverging from its Genesis roots. When Sonic Mania Plus was announced, there weren't just a few new characters announced before everyone dusted their hands and left for the day, a ton of work went into the new edition of the game.
Sega has been releasing some dev diaries explaining the creation of Sonic Mania Plus. The first episode, which focuses on art and design, can be found here.

Sonic Mania Plus released as both a new release (including retail) and DLC for Sonic Mania on July 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch.
