Learn The History And Psychiatric Applications Of Tetris

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 05, 2015 at 05:36 AM

Tetris has a long and storied history thanks to licensing complications early in the game's lifespan, and recently has been used to help study the brain in surprising ways.

The latest video YouTube channel Did You Know Gaming looks at the game's history and development and explains why creator Alexey Pajitnov didn't start making money his game until 1996, despite creating it in 1984.

The video also looks at some of the surprising psychiatric and medical applications of Tetris, though it doesn't mention how the game has been used to study dreams – something we wrote about extensively here. We also have a video interview with Pajitnov, Threes creator Asher Vollmer, and The Tetris Company founder, Henk Rogers, about making puzzle games, which you can see here. We also randomly ran into Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak on one occasion, and he shared his love for Tetris in a video interview. You can see that video here.
