Smooth McGroove Has A Voice Like A One-Winged Angel In Latest Arrangement

by Mike Futter on Sep 08, 2014 at 02:38 PM

You know him, you (probably) love him, and he’s back with one of his most challenging arrangements yet. Smooth McGroove is an a cappella artist who is taking on one of the most iconic tunes in RPG history (associated with one of most recognizable villains).

This time out, McGroove is tackling Final Fantasy VII’s One-Winged Angel, which plays during Cloud’s final battle against Sephiroth. The original was composed by Nobuo Uematsu, and has appeared in a number of games, including Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts.

This video also features some slightly more advanced camera and editing work. It’s certainly the most menacing we’ve seen the bearded bard.

For more, check out other arrangements, including Pokémon’s Pallet Town tune, Ryu’s theme from Street Fighter 2The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and Secret of Mana (among many others available on his YouTube channel). You can also read our interview from last year with the multi-toned musician.
