Changing Usernames In PSN Might Finally Be On The Way

by Javy Gwaltney on Oct 04, 2018 at 10:40 AM

PSN users have long yearned for the ability to change their usernames. If recent rumors are correct, they might finally get the option.

Kotaku is reporting that it recently interviewed three anonymous sources, developers working at various studios, and all of them have said that they're "fixing bugs, tweaking settings, and ensuring that their games are compatible with Sony’s plans."

Another source, according to the piece, showed Kotaku a picture that's supposedly internal documentation from Sony showing a PSN profile with an option to edit the username. Kotaku says that it hasn't gotten any indication of a timeline, so this hypothetical feature could still be a way off.

Obviously none of this has been confirmed by Sony yet (we've reached out to them and will update the article if we hear back), but last December Shawn Layden, chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, said that company was working on enabling the change.
