World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

You Won't Want To Cross These Orcs

The highly anticipated expansion to the world's biggest MMO had an intense cinematic trailer shown at Gamescom today. If you missed it, you can watch it right here.

The trailer centers around some orcs that you may already be a bit familiar with and certainly sets the tone for what's to come in the upcoming expansion. The plot will center around Garrosh Hellscream and the repercussions of his changing the world's timeline.

World of Warcraft's Warlords of Draenor expansion releases on November 13. We had a chance to play it at PAX East this year so be sure to read our impressions, and take a minute to see some art from the game.

  • I mean, damn that is a sexy cinematic.
  • Except this is an alternate universe and not part of our timeline at all, so there will be no "repercussions of him changing the world's timeline".
  • Ugh, this makes me want to resub..... Damn you Blizzard....

  • I've never been a fan of WoW, though I don't hate on WoW either it's just not my cup of tea. I have always loved the lore and universe of Warcraft however and I really look forward to the WoW movie, especially if it's anything like the amazing cinematics Blizzard does.
  • Wow. That was a great cutscene. Looked outstanding.

  • I haven't played the game much, and even so its been at least 4 or 5 years since I did, but DANG that looks cool.

  • You mean Grommash Hellscream changing the timeline? Also I'm still not sold on the premise of the expansion.
  • My name is Legio, I have been WoW clean for over 2 years now.

I will not forsake my vows, because the feeling in my gut is nostalgia for the friends I made and what the game WAS.

That being said, blizzard is probably the best maker of cinematics, and they make me miss the good old years of Azeroth.

  • So, Back to the Future with Orcs then? /golfclap
  • I effing love this. Grom not drinking the blood meaning they never became the Fel Orcs, which means they didn't destroy Dreanor, which also means the space goats never boarded Exodar to Azeroth. I think this alt Timeline is going to be amazing. Its gonna be interesting to see if this does bleed over to the normal timeline or if it will be isolated. Orcs are the masta race!
  • If there is one thing Blizzard knows how to do, its make an awesome cinematic.

  • Never played WOW, but their cinematics are awesome :D

  • Shiit was tight, too bad there is currently a huge outcry from Alliance because it had no alliance in it xD
  • I like the Mists of Panderia Cinematic better but this was still cool ^^

  • And this is why Blizzard should branch out into feature length CG movies.
  • Blizzard always knows how to make awesome intro movies as far back as I remember with Diablo II in 1998. This looks awesome too. Unfortunately, I kicked the WoW habit a loooong time ago. I wish they would do a single player game like WoW though, just with an end to the game instead of going on-and-on like WoW does.
  • oh snap that was gorgeous!

  • I don't play WoW, so all the meaning and backstory and alternate timeline stuff was totally lost on me.

  • Blizz always impresses with their cinematic's, but I will not be playing the new expansion. WOW is just an OLD concept like C.O.D. same old same old.
  • Blizzard: Masters of Cinematics.
