Toon Link Is Coming To Super Smash Bros. On Wii U And 3DS

Toon Link isn't a clone of the more realistic looking hero. Wind Waker's champion brings a set of tools that are unique to his adventure, and we're glad to see him included in the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros.

With the release of Wind Waker HD, Toon Link's appearance on the roster makes sense. You can see how he'll appear on both platforms below. Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS will be out in 2014.

We've also got images of the Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing Villager, Princess Peach, and a new Pilotwings stage.

  • I honestly dont care about the returning characters, I want to see more new ones!

  • Yet another predictable character, when are we going to bet another un-expected character?

  • I jsut pray PRAY they bring lucario back, or mewtwo... I'd prefer lucario though. I mean toon link shocked me that he's back.
  • I was worried that Wind Waker Link wouldn't be in the game. This pleases me.

He was a much better fighter anyway.

  • fine, great, can we get some newcomer's please?
  • He was more or less a clone just like Young Link in Brawl...hoping the two are a bit more different this time around. Same attacks and everything, just slightly different effects...I'm not sure how seeing how Link's repertoire is pretty shallow but the gap must be widened!

  • Toon link and Peach

    "DAM IT MOM!"

  • You know i'm really hoping for Terry/slime (Dragon warrior: Monsters) to appear in the game :/

  • Was really hoping for the return of Young Link, especially with ALBW on the horizon, but I guess Toon Link makes sense. Still, Link is my favorite, and I've always enjoyed playing as Toon Link, so it'll be fun to play as him again!

  • Even though I use Toon Link a lot (he's in my top 5 for sure), I'm kind of bummed he was announced at this stage in the game. I'd like to hear about the unique characters (both new and old) before we got to the clones.
  • Oh my wow, he looks so much better than his brawl counterpart. And I'm so glad he's back, Toon Link is my best character, but come on Nintendo, you know were all waiting for that Mewtwo announcement... Please... (With all the Mewtwo focus in X & Y this is even more likely... or they'll just pull another crushingly disappointing Lucario stunt with Zoroark, or a *shudders* Gen 6 pokemon.)
  • Awesome!! Toon Link is my best character, and if they add Mr.Game & Watch and Captain Falcon, then all 3 of my favorites will be in the game ヽ(゜∇゜)ノ
  • Yes! I was afraid he was gonna be skipped over because of that Toon-Link level on 3DS, but gotta have me some Toon Link to smash with. Wouldn't it be wacky if the title for this game was "Wii Smash U"? ;P
  • Good News! I love Toon Link, but I would also really like to see a few other characters:
Snake (it is unlikely that he comes back, but the Snake Eater remake would justify it), Lloyd Irving (tales of Symphonia, but this is highly unlikely now that the game is so old), Paper Mario (they've had variations of Mario before), any character from Advanced Wars, Banjo Kazooie, Bayonetta, Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes), Red steel 2's Swordsman, Jack from Madworld, etc. I say 'etc.' because otherwise I would write forever and I would never get to bed. My wishlist is actually too overreaching anyway. I mean, it includes Walter White.
  • Yay! Toon Link is so adorable. I like how he look's a lot closer to his in-game appearance in The Wind Waker than he did in Brawl.

  • Come see me when you get confirmation that Krystal from Starfox Adventures has been selected for the smash roster.

  • WOOHOO!I love the LoZ franchise! And Wind Waker is one of my favorites!
