The lights are on
Nobody knows exactly when the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will come out next year, but it will be preceded by a beta period.
Publisher/developer Square Enix announced that the game – which is already out for PC and PlayStation 3 – will start its beta period on February 22, the Japanese launch date of the PlayStation 4.
The company also announced that PlayStation 3 players of the title can transfer their character and progress over to the PS4 for free.
The launch of the game on the current system clogged its servers, leaving Square Enix to offer free playing time, and Sony in Europe has even stepped in to offer refunds to its gamers.
Our Take:Server trouble aside, it's a sign of the times that a console title can willingly shed one platform for another – similar to the publisher deals to bridge the gap of cross-generational titles.

I'm glad that this FF iteration is able to be upgraded to a new console (unlike FFXI which was stuck in the dark ages because of the PS2 restrictions). I look forward to giving this game a shot once it's available for purchase again.
Camping the sign up page.
I have been playing on my PS3, and wanting to purchase a second license for my PC. I was worried I was going to need a 3rd license for the PS4. This is really great news. The ability to take my character to any platform is awesome.
The idea that I could do crafting on the Vita seems pretty cool. Could be watching football with my vita off to side just hitting the crafting macro.
game is working fine now, ps4 will hash out the bits of lag in local high population areas, but still most impressive versus attempts like Defiance.
also heard from some people in game that are vets of the old game that there is a ton planned to add on to what is already a fun experience.
Lol, fixing it for sure would be a good start.
"The company also announced that PlayStation 3 players of the title can transfer their character and progress over to the PS4 for free."
This confuses me. You can already "transfer" your play between PS3 and PC, you just have to buy a copy of both games. The same can be done on the PS4 since your progress is saved on the server, but why mention that it is free?
