The lights are on
Here's a glimmer of good news for (would-be) Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn players. Sony is issuing full refunds to some of the people affected by the game's troubled relaunch, which included login issues, server overloads, and more.
According to a post on Europe's PlayStation Blog, players in regions including Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain are entitled to complete refunds of the game's digital versions, either the standard or collector's edition, if they were downloaded on August 27 or 28. The refund will happen automatically. In addition, the game will remain in each player's download history, meaning that those affected players can reinstall it again at no additional cost.
We've reached out to Sony to see if North Americans can expect a similar refund and will update this story when we get a response.

Our TakeOnce again, Sony shows that it knows how to handle a situation. Square Enix offered players a free week of game time for their troubles, but at this point I'd imagine a fair number of people have moved on. The refund is a perfect solution, in that it not only puts the cash back into customers' virtual wallets, but it leaves the door open to playing the game again once things settle down.

I'm wanting to play this pretty bad but not until all issues are better. Diablo III is consuming me as of right now and probably will consume me long after 2014 is here. It's such a great addition to my PS3 game's now
It's a shame. The game is SO good when everything is working correctly.
All of these problems are the reason I have held off on getting it. The game looks amazing, and I know quite a few people that like it a lot as well.
So if they get a refund now, they are going to have to buy it again without the pre-order bonus because this is a great game.
When I can get into the servers this was one of the best RPGs I have played in a long time.
Now with the server issue fixed for the most part I think more people are going to see just how good this game is.
Really looking forward to playing on the PS4.
Despite the games early problems, it's till fun as hell.
The normal mobs may be on the easy side, but the dungeons are extremely and the boss battles are intense. I'll be playing this game for years to come and I'll be happy to pay the subscription to do it.
I thought 13 was an unlucky number, now it sure is 14
Why couldn't EA do this for SimCity customers?
Well, this should be interesting for its track record.
People say FF is so bad now that no one wants to play it but so many people wanted to play this one that the servers keep crashing!
