Rage Is Three Discs On Xbox 360

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 25, 2011 at 12:13 PM

Two-disc games are so passé -- nowadays all the cool Xbox 360 games come on three discs. Recently id Software's creative director Tim Willits confirmed that the Xbox 360 version of the game will be the latest title needing a trio of discs.

Speaking with Digital Foundry, Willits stated that while PS3 owners will get by with one Blu-ray and an 8GB install, 360 owners will have three DVDs to contend with.

Before you dust off your sad trombone, however, it's reportedly not as bad as it sounds. Willits states that there's a natural cut-off point halfway through the story, at which point you'll switch from disc one to disc two, and you won't need to go back between the two. The third disc appears to be limited to multiplayer, which Willits states you don't really need to install at all.

Having to deal with multiple discs has become a common inconvenience for 360 owners, especially for saps like me who still have an original model and can't stand playing a game over the noise of the disc drive. That said, it's hard to complain about having too much game, so I'll happily shut my mouth and wait a couple minutes for the game to install when I get my copy.
