Final Fantasy XIII 360 Comes On Three Discs

More information can fit onto one PS3 Blu-ray game disc than a 360 disc. This is why the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will be shipping on three discs as opposed to the PS3’s singular piece of physical media.

“Yes the game is on three DVDs for the 360,” a Square Enix representative told VG247.

Those concerned that they’ll be swapping out discs like that annoying friend who can’t listen to a whole song can rest assured that the disc-jockeying will be kept to a minimum.

“Players will only have to swap discs twice during their entire game,” the representative continued.

Now you know what to expect when you crack open your shiny green copy of Final Fantasy XIII when it releases March 8. Hopefully a full install of the game will reduce the disc swapping instanced to zero.

Are you getting FFXIII for PS3 or 360?

  • Good thing blu-ray discs hold three times as much...no swapping for me!

  • And people thought that Mass Effect 2's double-disc system made it large... O_O

  • LOL!!!!!  Another shining example of why MS should have went with larger capacity media.  At least you X-Boxers will get some excercise!

  • Go Blu-Ray!

  • All Hail the power of the almighty Blu-Ray disc

  • This just shows that the blu-ray discs are the new standard.

  • CORRECTION - MARCH 9

Good to have a PS3 though! Disc-swapping just sounds a tad too old-fashioned for me...

Since the 360 needs 3 discs, just how much memory is this game... And will I have to back up a lot of it on the PS3???

  • So what? i was actually expecting this game to be 5 discs or more since Lost Odyssey was 4 discs and FF13 is gonna be huge, having been meant for Blu-Ray. Have we really forgetten the PSone days of swapping 3 discs for FF7 and 4 discs for FF8 and FF9?

  • @ Yamagokou

Nobody's forgotten the ritual of swapping discs in Final Fantasy games.

It's just that it should be a thing of the past by now...

  • ill go to 360

  • It's really funny that fanboys have something as ridiculously miniscule as multiple disks to rave about as if it was some kind of victory in the videogame wars. Personally, i feel the game just seems more "natural" on the PS3. But who gives 2 bits about how many disks it's on? Really? Is your need for some kind, any kind, of victory that small?

  • Welp, glad I'm getting it for the PS3.Aside from the obvious "Aww,I gotta get up?" of multi disc games,it also tells you generally how much of the game is left.So if you go into some kinda bad guys hideout to beat the big bad,and its only the 2nd disc...you know its not going to be ending there.I always hated that about multidisc games.

  • This is why i got a PS3

  • blue-ray discs are awesome.microsoft is stupid for not getting blue-ray,but it's okay because it's just one of many reasons the ps3 is better than the 360.

  • Who cares if you have to swap the disc 3 times during a 50 hour game? I take my discs out of the system every night when I'm done playing anyway, so when I reach the transition points I'll just put a new disc in the next night.

I can't believe how giddy you PS3-ophiles are getting over such a non-issue.

But since you brought the issue up, how does it feel that xbox owners get your Playstation-exclusive franchise?

  • i'll be getting it for the 360.i like the multiple disc thing, its very nostalgic for me.

  • i have xbox and ps3, and i think ill get it for the xbox because of achievments, and i do not give a crap about having to switch disks because if i get it for ps3, im going to be switching between it and MAG anyway, and if i get it for xbox ill be switchin between it and bad company 2

  • Lost Odyssey still wins with 4 discs, but I'm sure Final Fantasy XIII will have much more packed into one DVD.

  • I just wish that all ps3 games had the "install to hard-drive" option like 360 games do now =(

  • SicBurn. Ill admit it and I'm Ps3 kind of guy
