New Report Denies NGP Delay
Earlier this week Sony Computer Entertainment of America President Jack Tretton implied that the recent Tohoku earthquake and tsunami could delay the release of the anticipated NGP handheld.
Citing factory damage in northern Japan, he went on record with Bloomberg saying that “it may be the straw that says ‘maybe we go to just one market by the end of the year.’”
The story seems to have shifted slightly since Monday, with SCEA releasing a statement to the contrary. Sony representative Satoshi Fukuoka clarified in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that “so far we see no impact from the quake on our launch plan.”
It seems that we are back at square one, with the NGP remaining in the amorphous “holiday 2011” window it was first placed.
