Bizarre Creations Shuts Down Officially On Friday
First we heard that Activision wanted to sell them. Then the publisher recommended closure. Now that closure is nearly here: On Friday, developer Bizarre Creations will cease to exist.
Develop reports that the beleaguered developer, which was acquired by Activision in 2007, will shut down for good on February 18. The developer was best known for racing games such as the Project Gotham Racing series and the recent, underappreciated arcade racer Blur. It had also recently tried its hand at less beloved action games such as Sega's The Club and Activision's 007: Bloodstone.
Curiously, Develop reports that sources inside Bizarre seemed positive toward Activision's handling of the closure, though they also claimed that the publisher had "'meddled' with projects, and failed to properly back games with an efficient marketing campaign."
Whatever the reason for the shutdown, we wish the talented developers at Bizarre Creations the best of luck in finding future work swiftly and without trouble.
