Square Enix Accepting Final Fantasy XIV Beta Applications

by Meagan Marie on Dec 17, 2009 at 03:20 AM

Want to help Square Enix achieve its lofty goal of dethroning World of Warcraft? The RPG powerhouse is now accepting applications for the Final Fantasy XIV beta. MMO fans are welcome to visit the official website and apply for entry into one of the planned beta phases, giving them a chance to take an early peek into the world of Eorzea.

North American hopefuls can get their start here. The fine print points out a few stipulations, such as applicants needing to be 18 years of age or older, possess a Square Enix ID account, have a reliable internet connection and the capacity to submit bugs – fairly standard beta procedure.

The current testing phase is only for the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV, with an unannounced PlayStation 3 test to follow at a later date. If selected to be a part of the first beta wave, you will be able to continue through successive testing bouts till the end.

We know some of you are excited at getting a shot to explore Final Fantasy XIV’s overworld early, but take note – repeated submissions to the beta program will invalidate your entry and remove you from the running.

Any of you plan on trying your luck?
