Borderlands Catches A Ride To Xbox One Thanks To Backward Compatibility

by Mike Futter on Sep 03, 2015 at 06:15 AM

While we aren’t likely to get the original Borderlands as a remastered title, the entire three-game collection is now available on Xbox One. The first game in the series arrives today via backward compatibility.

If you’re in the preview program, that means you can revisit Pandora as it was in 2009. For those who don’t yet have access to the feature, Borderlands will be waiting for you in November.

As with all backward compatibility titles, you can play with friends on Xbox One and Xbox 360. If you have your save file in your cloud storage, you can pick up right where you left off. DLC is coming over, too (but you should probably skip the Underdome).

Borderlands is one of many titles available now, with the library expected to grow each month starting in November. Microsoft has confirmed that beginning that month, all Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will be added to the backward compatibility library.

Our Take
I can’t overstate how much I like the backward compatibility feature on Xbox One. Even if playing the games on the new console isn’t a big draw for you, having access to screenshots, Upload, and streaming makes it worthwhile.
