Warner To Revive DOA Midway Titles?
In a move that shines a ray of hope on several assumed dead titles, Warner Bros Interactive registered four curious web domains last week. Among the secured URLs is career-criminal.com. gauntletds.com, gauntletthegame.com, and eclipse-vegas.com. All URLs are locked in for the next two years.
The stable of projects were assumed abandoned when Warner purchased Midway for $49 million last year. The purchase gave Warner ownership over Midway’s flagship IPs, such as Mortal Kombat, Wheelman, Gauntlet, Joust, Spy Hunter, and Area 51.
While the registration of the web addresses could be a simple move to prevent URL squatters, it will be interesting to see if these games will be resuscitated. We’ve been particularly curious about the fate of This is Vegas since we first saw it a few years back.
