Help Support The Next Game From Gabriel Knight Creator Jane Jensen

by Phil Kollar on Nov 01, 2011 at 03:40 PM

Crazy Gabriel Knight fans like myself are a rare breed, but anyone who's spent serious time with the suave Cajun on his paranormal adventures has likely grown a healthy appreciation for creator Jane Jensen. Besides last year's long-delayed Gray Matter, Jensen hasn't been around much in the world of gaming, but it looks like a new project with her involvement has surfaced.

The new project is titled Cognition, and it's described as "an episodic story in the spirit of Dexter and Heavy Rain." The game is being created by Phoenix Online Studios, the team that made King's Quest fan game The Silver Lining, and Jensen has been tapped as the story consultant. Cognition will follow the story of FBI agent Erica Reed as she solves crimes using a supernatural power called post-cognition.

To help build the $25,000 that Phoenix Online estimates they'll need to fund the project, the developer has started a Kickstarter. You can donate as little as $1 or as much as $10,000 (!) toward helping get the game out the door. The best part is that anyone who donates $20 or more is guaranteed a copy of every episode of the game when it releases.

As of this writing, Cognition has 104 backers, bringing it to just over $7,000 collected thus far. Honestly, I've always been wary of Kickstarter projects, but this one is a no-brainer for me. I'll definitely be donating.
