Respawn Entertainment Introduces Titanfall’s Atlas Class

At VGX, we got our first look at two new Titanfall robots. We saw our first Hammond Robotics (an in-game, fictional corporation) promotional video for the Ogre, and a more-action oriented video of the lithe Stryder Titan.

Later, Respawn published a second Hammond Robotics promotional video, giving us another look at the Stryder. Now, the Atlas gets its turn.

We’ve used the Atlas in our demos of Titanfall. It’s the all ‘rounder of the bunch and controls extremely well. But don’t take it from us, see what Hammond Robotics says about it.

You’ll be able to mount up in a Titan on March 11, 2014. Respawn’s inaugural title is coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. You can see the Atlas on the cover of our June 2013 issue and read the coverage from that month by clicking the banner below.

  • So far this looks like any other shooter with "mechs" thrown in. Hopefully it is a lot more then that. The shooter genre needs a game to shake things up.
  • It seems like they're just desperate for names that sound "sci-fi" now. Also, did anyone else notice the 5th grade grammar skills employed in this trailer?
  • I'm extremely excited about this game. It's the SOLE reason that I picked up an Xbox One. I do have some concerns/questions, though. First Person Shooters are my favorite games, but I'm mediocre, at best. How does one aquire the Titans? I read the cover story, but don't recall that being discussed. Do you get one like one would get killstreak rewards? Are they called in randomly throughout a "match" and whoever gets one becomes the de-facto king of that round? I'm basing this on my Halo 4 experience. If someone on the other team got a MANTIS, I could count on getting killed by it atleast 10 times. If, by chance, I was able to get a MANTIS, someone would kill me with a Spartan Laser immediately. Like I said, I'm mediocre at best. I'm now wondering if this game is going to be balanced or if it's going to be a slaughter fest for those who get and conrol the Titans. Still going to preorder...I am just wondering if someone who has played it or read more about it has more info. Also...Merry Christmas GI community!
  • I'm guessing there will be 3 titans in the game since they have a speed one, an all arounder, and a heavy. I want too see what the pilots have that's new now, and if they're are different guns. EA better not have this turn into a BF fiasco. If it's one glitchy mess, a I will completely lose all trust in EA. You hyped a game up so much, then you better deliver, or you will anger a lot more people than you did for BF4.
  • Titanfall is the only game that's making me want an Xbox One. Can't wait to play it.

  • So we know there are 3 titans so far, here's hoping for more then just 3 in the whole game. I hope Respawn does the industry a solid and releases this when it's ready and bug/glitch free. I will never mind when company delays a game to make it flawless. :)
  • Oh yeah? But can it teabag?
  • I'm so hyped for this. They better announce a date for Beta very soon.

  • Between all 3 Titans announced thus far, I think the Atlas is my Titan of choice. I'm more of an all-around person. I can't wait till March!
  • at around 25seconds, those look like HK-47 robots from swotor lol

  • Game looks good.

  • Call of Duty with mechs. Sorry but if I want giant mech combat I can just play Mech Warrior.
  • Was looking forward to this game but then I seen EA had its name on it. What does that mean you ask. Battlefield 4 and Madden 25; broken and disappointing graphics.
