Nintendo has revealed a new stage for Super Smash Bros., which is set in one of gaming's most familiar environments. Are you ready to knock the stuffing out of your friends in the Mushroom Kingdom?

The level's official title is Mushroom Kingdom U, which is a reference to it being based particularly on New Super Mario Bros. U. It looks pleasant enough, but game director Masahiro Sakurai says that its placid appearance hides a wold in turmoil. Or something like that.

"When Kamek casts a spell, the stage transforms drastically!" he wrote in the Miiverse reveal. "That said, this is not what you would call a moving stage…"

As you can see in the shot below, the central platform remains, while the others disappear. Jets of water take their place, including one with a lovely spiked critter. If past Smash games have taught us anything, those geysers will rise and fall until you're ready to land on one, at which point it'll vanish and leave you plummeting into the abyss. We'll be able to see for ourselves in just a week. Nintendo says this stage will be one of the playable levels at E3 and select Best Buy locations.

The 3DS version of the game is set to arrive this summer, while the Wii U version will be coming in the winter. For more details on the game, take a look at the previously announced character, Ike.
