The lights are on
Nintendo revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be making another Smash Bros. stop as a returning combatant. His appearance marks the second time he's been in the fighting-game series, starting with 2008's Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Sega's hero will be in both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game, so nobody will be left behind. If you didn't play Brawl, Sonic is a speedy fellow, able to zoom around unsuspecting enemies and knock them senseless with his speed dash. We don't know what new abilities he'll bring this time around, if any, but the screens in the gallery below might get your imaginations going.
Take a look at our earlier Smash Bros. preview, which features another returning character, Toon Link.

ALL IN ONE GAME....*begins to tear out of amazement*
Now I'll show you!
Nintendo knows how to get it done.
THANK YOU SEGA AND NINTENDO!!!!!!
Great news! Now we can play out that Sonic/Mega Man crossover. I hope Snake returns too, at least for novelty's sake.
I'm glad that Sonic is back.
I love his design in this game! So classic and modern at the same time. He seems pretty much the same from Brawl, but that new dodge move looks sweet.
I wonder in Snake will reappear.
*breathes deeply* oh shoot! sonic!
ok i wondering is they were gonna get him back
Well so far I have Olimar, Mega Man, Bowser Peach, Luigi, and Toon Link...but none of them are my favorites (unless Mega Man proves to be) so hopefully Marth, Lucario AND Mewtwo, Lucas, Captain Falcon and Wolf will follow soon. Game and Watch also as it is my friend's (who gives me a hard challenge) favorite.
No L-canceling, no buy.
I think this is the only game being advertised for the Wii U at this time that is actually making me consider getting a Wii U.
I can't wait for this game. Glad to see sonic back in the lineup. It's going to be awesome pitting mario, sonic, and megaman in the same match.
Who was the jerk who decided to make Iwata try to pronounce "unparalleled?"
