The lights are on
The Sky Lance is a prototype anti-air weapon in the upcoming PlanetSide 2, and you can see its creation in this video.
The weapon appears courtesy of the Nanite Systems corporation in PlanetSide 2, and you can witness its design progress from a rough sketch to finished concept. Senior artist Roel Jovellanos provides commentary on top of the video of his work, adding insight into the process. Even if you aren't a PlanetSide fan, time-lapse videos like this are always fascinating, so give it a watch.
PlanetSide 2 is an MMO shooter from Sony Online Entertainment . If you want to see more, you can check out another time-lapse video along with screens and wallpapers. You can also sign up to be a part of the beta at Planetside2.com.

This video is really inspirational. I always enjoy watching these dev vids and this one is exceptional. gr8 artist
planetside is so far my favorite fpsmmo
That was incredible. Although he certainly went through a number of iterations and layers of work to flesh out the details, his final product was remarkably consistent with the shapes he plotted out in the beginning. Also it's always a healthy reminder that even quick brush strokes and blobs of color that aren't extremely detailed can make a piece that much better as long as they work within the context of the larger piece, like the little highlight and darkening strokes and the LED lights and stuff. There are a hell of a lot of amazing artists out there!
thats so cool! I wish I could do that
That was super interesting.
I'm assuming signing up to be a part of the "bets" means "beta" :P I can't wait!
How long did it take for the entire process?
I wish I had more Photoshop-learning time. It looks like fun.
It's videos like this that make me realize how horrible of an artist I am, and how truly amazing some people are.
Its cool getting inside looks into this.
...wtf is this? looks painfully interesting... sweet!
That's really impressive
Ok, so this video just blows my mind (like every time lapse video of this kind) but i am seriously frustrated.
How does he pull out that color palette shown at 0:56?
