The lights are on
New Super Luigi U will begin its life as DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U, but it will be getting a retail release shortly after. Here are a handful of new screens for the game, as well as its box art.
The DLC version of the game will be available on June 20 and it will be available for $19.99. The retail version of the game will release on August 25 and with will cost a little extra at $29.99.
For the unaware, New Super Luigi U removes Mario as a playable character, shrinks the timer for the levels, and alters every level in some way to work with Luigi's playstyle. This DLC also lets players play as Nabbit, who you will know if you've played New Super Mario Bros. U.

That box art looks awesome. Too bad I don't own a Wii U. Luigi needs all of the love he can get.
I'd gladly pay extra for the box art and I always try to buy hard copies of dlc. However until I see something that doesn't say "New" or "HD" in the title I'm saving my money for the next ps4 or xbox.
I'm most interested in the bunny wearing bowser Jr.'s mask
Its ironic that the year of Luigi is Nintendo's worst year financially.
I have no idea who Nabbit is but he looks like a creep. And why does it look like he made a knock-off version of Bowser Jr's bib-handkerchief-bandana thing?
Maybe once the Wii U drops in price, the next Smash Bros, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country Returns games release, I'll pick this up. Until then, I'll wait
I think the retail box would be the way to go. Something makes me think that it'll be out of production after the "year of Luigi" is over, and like all other special Nintendo releases, like Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario All Stars for Wii, Zelda Collection on the GC, it'll be something that the collectors will want and prices will go up :)
Never under-estimate the Nintendo collectors.
At first I wasn't going to get this because it looks so similar to Mario U, but that was until they announced that game and wario will only be $40. This being considered, I think I will pick both of them up now.
Well good for Luigi. I didn't think it'd actually happen. Thank you Nintendo :D
umm.....ok seems nice...but need more from you nintendo.
This looks pretty cool.
I have to say, I'm a bit shocked at the pricing-model. I was under the impression this was DLC for the proper game, and would be sold at a lower mark. It appears more and more like a stand-alone release, though.
On the plus side, that is indeed some sweet, sweet box-art. Shame they couldn't work the Wario-Brothers into this one, though >_<
So its just going to be a Mario game with Luigi? Basically just a skin swap...Nintendo's originality and creativity just amazes me.
Retail. Box. Is. Amazing. I will have it... when I get a Wii U.
I'm pumped for this. It's nice to see DLC that'll take me more than an hour to get through.
