The lights are on
Nintendo has provided release dates for New Super Mario Bros. U's Luigi-themed update. You'll be able to get your hands on the content either June or August, depending on whether you decide to download the software update or wait for a retail release.
The New Super Mario Bros. U DLC is coming June 20, and it will cost $19.99. The standalone release of Super Luigi U follows a few months later on August 25. That one will set you back $29.99.
In addition to tailoring levels toward Mario's little brother, the DLC lets players choose to play as Nabbit, the thieving rabbit from the game's vanilla release. Nintendo says he's designed for novices, because he doesn't take damage from the bad guys. It looks like Luigi is managing to get upstaged in his own game.

Nintendo is very nice with their DLC. I kind of want the standalone package for the case, but I think I'll just download it.
It's a me! Mario!
Getting a Wii U this holiday, and New Super Mario Bros. U is no doubt going to be my first purchase. Love that sub-series of the Mario games.
I'd like to see something like this come out for the 3DS
This is great! I am going to pick this up as the retail copy sometime in September. I'm going to buy NSMBU this summer and will be able to purchase NSLBU this summer, but i'd prefer the retail version. The cover for it looks really nice!
that screenshot looks like a DS game.
I thought this was supposed to be a free download on release...maybe i just thought i heard that.
Year of Luigi!
