Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Video Compares New-Gen To Last-Gen

Hideo Kojima and Konami have released a video that neatly showcases the visual differences between the the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

The video walks through some sequences we have seen before, and also shows Snake running through the world. It breaks it down by framerate, and also zooms in onto textures to offer close up looks. All the versions of the game look really good – even the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions – but in this video, PlayStation 4 seems to have the edge.

Earlier this week, Kojima and Konami offered a photographic look at the differences between the new- and last-gen versions of the game. You can check that out here.

You can also find the video on Konami's official YouTube channel, which will allow you to turn up the video's resolution to its maximum settings.

We've been covering Metal Gear Solid V all month. To see more of our coverage, check out our hub of content.

  • This clearly looks the best on PS4, but it looks fantastic on Xbox One too. And man the last gen ports look great as well! The FOX Engine is truly amazing!
  • They all look the same to me
  • yeah this is why i am pc gaming this gen i will still have love for my consoles but this aint no nes to snes if ya know what i mean folks...
  • there really isn't much of a difference. it's like assassins' creed black flag; just more sparkles and sprinkles here and there on the ps4/x-1 versions.
  • Well gee, if I ever decide to play all my video games at 1/4 speed, maybe I'll think about upgrading consoles.
  • PS4 gets the award for best looking, but it's clear these guys aren't running the next gens to their full potential. That's expected at this point.
  • I can't honestly tell the difference. They all look pretty good.

  • Isn't lords of shadow 2 also using the fox engine? Cuz didn't the engine kinda make it's debut in the 1st lords of shadow?
  • No desire to spend $40 on it, but once it comes down to $15 the PS4 version looks and runs the best so go with that one.
  • This was pretty cool. This makes me want a new-gen Splinter cell game, it would look amazing.
  • Here's a pretty good image comparison between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game http://abload.de/img/abzlkf1.jpg http://abload.de/img/abebklu.png Pretty obvious visual game between the two.
  • It's pretty impressive what Kojima did with the current-gen models.

  • The leap in quality from PS3 to PS4 seems fairly significant while the difference in 360 to XB1 seems pretty minimal. While the PS4 looks the best, I think the game looks pretty good on all platforms. Kinda upset though to see the XB1 fall to the PS4 in graphics this much.

  • Just another cross platform game that will look better on the PS4. And it's all gravy when it cost 100 dollars less than the Xbone.
  • I wish they would bring this title to PC.
  • Has there been a cross platform that looks better on the Xbox One yet?
  • I don't get how people can say they can't tell the difference. Maybe they have bad vision or something. I didn't realize that Ground Zeroes was so close to releasing already! Also, you guys should really get a better video player...
  • Wow... the improvement between PS3 and PS4 is huge compared to the 360 to XBone

  • Slightly sharper textures on PS4--exact same gameplay on all four platforms.

  • Looks pretty darn good no matter what system your gonna play it on and for only $40 I'd say everyone wins.
