Capcom Celebrates Japanese PS4 Launch With New Deep Down Trailer

Just over a year ago at the PlayStation 4 reveal in New York City, we got our first look at Capcom’s demonic dungeon delver, Deep Down. The title, which we now know to be free-to-play, was recently bumped until after the summer this year.

The news of the delay comes by way of a Dengeki Online interview with the game’s producer Dengeki Online (translated by Dual Shockers). Deep Down doesn’t have a confirmed North American release yet, but beta testing was slated to start around the launch of the PlayStation 4 in Japan. However, the trailers continue to showcase English voice overs, giving us continued hope that the title will make its way here.

For more, check out our hands-on preview from Tokyo Game Show 2013. You can also read up on the game’s 2093 New York City setting.

  • Nice!

  • Either way, since the game's free to play, I'll happily download it on my Japanese PSN account.

  • I really hope this is like dragons dogma, just more so like with the dungeons from dark arisen. considering that dragons dogma was sort of an easier dark souls. And personally for me I preferred it over dark souls. It was one of my favorite games(dark arisen)from last year. So here's hoping that this is inspired from dragon's dogma and is sort of a spiritual successor to it. Though it does seem to take inspiration from dark souls too, which ain't bad. Just dark souls was a game I wasn't big on because at the time I didn't have time to devote to it. Plus the whole thing of difficulty and grinding and slogging being rewarding didn't appeal to me. (considering I'm the dude that has loads of fun with game's like the new EDF). So I really look foward to learning more about the actual combat of this game.
  • I really hope this game is good. I don't care about graphics, but the problems this game has had in the graphics department leave me not quite trusting anything the dev states.

  • Not gonna lie, this game has some solid Dark Souls looks going for it, and I'm loving that it's F2P as well. Icing on the cake in my opinion.

  • One of the voice actors in this video is the narrator from Dark Souls.

  • 4 armor and weapon selections for the free to play version, I just don't think it'll have much in terms of depth to properly be compared to anything like Dark Souls. My excitement has gone down increasingly with everything I've read since the ps4 reveal. At this point, if it gets delayed too far, I'll already have enough quality (I'm assuming they'll be quality anyway) RPG offerings for ps4. The Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Lords of the Fallen will happily keep me busy for quite a long time. Also the recent gameplay demo I saw for Lords of the Fallen is blowing my expectations for that game away. They call it an arcade Dark Souls, which described it perfectly.
  • Wooooah!! *rubs eyes in dibelief*
  • I'll admit, my enthusiasm for this game has just decreased the more I learn about it. Still, it looks pretty sharp, for a free to play game... And, you know, what do I have to do lose?

  • This could be good. And yeah, there are all of the comparisons to dark souls. I don't think capcom could produce a game today that is even close to dark souls in terms of creativity and boldness. but that doesn't mean it won't be a tons of fun. Capcom has had it;s moments in the last few years, but the last truly great game it made was RE4 in my opinion (or Okami would be on the same level). Those games came out like 8 years ago.
  • Seems interesting, the story that is. Might dig in.

  • I'm looking forward to this game. It has a cool concept and I'm all for free games as long as its not a play to win situation

  • Wow. This trailer is a far cry from it's first reveal.

    Total interest lost in 3...2...1...

  • Combat system is questionable for me. Also depending on how extensive or limited the F2P aspect is we may just have a pretty graphics, very niche audience game.

  • Looks decent, but I'll stick with Dark Souls II.
  • I'll finish Dark and Demons souls first, thanks.
  • Game looks cool. Am still waiting on my tax return to come in so I can get a PS4.

  • All I have been doing is killing monsters in capcom games lately between dragons dogma, operation raccoon city, monster hunter 3 ultimate. Needless to say this game looks too good to pass up.
