The lights are on
Deep Down has been turning heads since it was announced with its Dark Souls vibe. Today at Tokyo Game Show, producer Yoshinori Ono revealed it will be free-to-play.
President of Sony's worldwide studios, Shuhei Yoshida confirmed the information on his Twitter, adding that Sony is planning an open beta right before the PS4 launch in Japan, which is on February 22, 2014.
Tim Turi checked out Deep Down while at TGS, and saw plenty to be optimistic about, read his impressions.

The news about this game just keep getting better and better
I had assumed it would be a regular retail game. Apparently not?
As long as it isn't Pay to Win, I might just try this game if I ever decide to get a PS4. Still, I really don't trust Capcom with micromanaging, especially with a free to play game.
Well if its good I can play it for a while, and if its not I can just delete it happily and forget it ever existed, like that F2P fighter by those namco guys...
Ouch, it all depends on the F2P model they choose. That being said it's "DLC on the disc" Capcom, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Had potential when it was announced, everything I've heard since makes it sound worse and worse.
