After weeks of leaks and teases, Activision has finally made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 official in the best way possible: a trailer full of footage from the game. Click through to get your first look at the next title in the game industry's most popular franchise.

This minute-and-a-half-long trailer takes us on a tour of combat hotspots around the globe that players will visit in Modern Warfare 3. These aren't the South American or Middle East scenarios that compromised much of the first two Modern Warfare games, though. America remains under attack on home turf, and England, France, and Germany are not faring any better.

The brief glimpses of gameplay include gunfights in ruined city streets, helicopter battles, a tense chase through a subway tunnel, and crumbling buildings all over the place. It looks like major tourist attractions in each of these nations will come under attack, allowing players to live out battles in some very recognizable real-life locales.

Near the end of the trailer, an ominous voice intones, "It doesn't take the most powerful nations on earth to create the next global conflict...just the will of a single man." No word on who this evil figure is, but considering the ominous logo at the end, Activision is suggesting that the events of the Modern Warfare franchise will spin out into a full World War in this game.

Check out the trailer below and stay tuned for more Modern Warfare 3 coverage as E3 approaches.
